Modifying an Existing Spousal Support Order
You may petition the court to modify spousal support at any time if either party shows a significant change in circumstances. Some examples of a significant change include a change in income, or a move. The spousal support ends when either spouse dies, or if the spouse receiving support remarries. Spousal support payments are taxable to the spouse who receives them, and they are tax deductible to the paying spouse.
